RTE iPlayer / BBC iPlayer for Sony HX823 TV?

    I got a 46HX823 Sony TV which has internet and works well on RTE Saorview & BBC Freeview (Wales) however the available Apps are a bit of a disappointment (to put it mildly..)
    I have read elsewhere that RTE player is available on other TVs (e.g. Samsung) any ideas what the deal is for Sony?
    Same question for BBC / ITV - is there any jiggory-pokery I can do to have the TV 'find' those services? - I have UPC broadband so am guessing the TV uses some form of geoip to figure out that I'm not in the UK and therefore prevent them..
    Any thoughts on getting these going on what is otherwise a fine TV would be appreciated

    It is indeed a fine TV and although Samsung do have RTE player on some models they are way behind on the range of video services that Sony have (no TV3 player, no Eurosport, Sky News etc.). There is no sign of RTE Player coming to Sony sets in the short term.

    As you guessed, iPlayer etc are UK only on Smart TV just as they are on other devices.
