Automatically dialing a phone number from a website GS3

    Hi Guys,

When I had my GS2 and I did browse a website that had a phone number on there I usually only had to hold my finger on the number and the phone recognized that is a phone number and offered me to make a call directly.

Now with the S3 however it may recognize the full number but my only real option is to copy it (doesn't offer me to dial this number). After I copied it I can go to the dialer option, paste it in and then make the call which is a bit of a pain in butt compared to my previous S2.

Not sure if there is a setting or maybe it was Android itself (used Gingerbread on S2 and now ICS on S3). Luckily I don't use phone numbers directly from websites too often but it was very convenient with the S2.

    Hope someone can help.

    Thanks

@Mods: Please move to Android if necessary.

    Thanks

I'm pretty sure Apple had a patent on this pretty handy feature so it was removed. My old HTC Desire used to be able to do this too.

    Yeah that's exactly what happened.

Oh, thanks. That would explain it. No little app or anything like this available I am assuming. Guess if it does exist it would also violate the patent.

I miss this feature too since changing from my Desire.

Silly the way they can get away with patenting basic functionality like this.

I don't remember exactly what the patent is about but I'm pretty sure the patent in question surrounds a particular format of the number and not all.

it might depend on the format of the number:
    tel:+358-555-1234567 might work or this
