Registered for Income Tax - Never traded

    Hi Folks,

Quick question. I registered for Sole Trader Income Tax about a year ago as I was told it was the only way to get a Tax Clearance Cert for a tender I was applying for.

In the end I didn't win the tender, and never traded, so have no additional income tax to report as I am PAYE.

How would I go about closing this off, or will I have to submit an Income Tax Return for this year with €0 showen?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Dave

send in a NIL return for 2011 and put a cover note stating that you never traded and you wish to de-register for Income Tax effective from whatever date.
