Is it just me or is the M50 worse than ever these days? From around 08:00 it's crawling from around Junction 9 to Junction 13. I don't remember it being that bad before??

Its been bad since those guys started laying cables along the side of the road. The green jackets and flashing orange lights causes plenty of rubber necking. Once you get passed them it speeds up a lot. Also, the low glaring sun on clear mornings is causing people to slow down too.

This always slows between these Junctions around this time of year because of the level of the sun, it shines directly into drivers eyes. It usually last a few weeks then goes back to normal until the clocks go back and then it happen again for a few weeks........

Even going Northbound this a.m. there was a sudden slow down at Cherrywood - the road was wet and reflected the glare from the sun.

M50S is a P.I.T.H. on sunny mornings. Apart from the tailbacks trying to exit at Ballinteer/Sandyford that's due to SDCC anti-traffic nazis screwing up traffic light sequences in Ballinteer, if people would:
    1. CLEAN (the INSIDE as well as outside of) their windscreens.
    2. Fix/use their car's sunvisors.
    3. Wear sunglasses.
We might make a bit more progress.

If this is what can happen during a recession when there are supposedly less cars on the road, imagine what it would be like if we ever got back to having a tiger economy.

I regularly think the same. Escpecially when held up on the N7/M7 to/past Naas. Still a lot of people on the move...

I used the Dublin Coach service from Westmoreland Street to Limerick last weekend. While it did stop for about 10 minutes at Red Cow, it took 90 minutes to get past Naas.

One of the problems I've noticed a few times is that the tailback for Newlands Cross starts at the bridge over Nangor Road or earlier, the problem being that the traffic from the auxially lane tends to only join the right hand lane going through the Red Cow junction.

There was an incident on / at the N4 that had the auxiliary lane backed up there, but the whole motorway was stopped from north of the N7 to back to at least as far as Embankment Road.

Well that knocks on the head me ever using any coach on the N7. A risk of that sort of delay is unacceptable.

But cars were stuck in exactly the same traffic.

Think Victors point was that it wasn't the Bus companies fault the bus was delayed as it was stuck in (mainly) car traffic.
