ok well ive decided, 14 years after my rebellious teenage first tattoos , to get a well thought out, properly designed 3/4 or full sleeve tattoo....im thinking maybe koi theme but still on the fence... so ive done a bit of recon on places in dublin but still at a blank as to who or where to go... so your experiences and opinions would be hugely hugely valued and appreciated on artists in dublin or surrounding areas , on their design and tattoo'ing'ing talents!!

If your going for a Japanese styled tattoo, I wouldn't limit your search area to Dublin. Have a look at White Dragon Tattoo up in Belfast. Chris Crooks is regarded as the best Japanese artist in Ireland. Now, he is fully booked into 2014, but you've waited this long, so another year and a bit should be no problem.

Dont get me wrong, Colourworks, Snakebite, Skin City, Wildcat are all very good studios with some very talented artists, but if your set on a Japanese themed sleeve, I would strongly advise going with Chris Crooks. Have a look at his portfolio on Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/#!/whitedragontattoo

called into skin city a few weeks back for a quick chat when passing, and although looking at their work, they're residant artists work look pretty good , and maybe it being a busy or off day for them., i felt they wernt very interested in going through some of the ideas i was thinking of , and felt quite rushed into booking and leaving... i dunno, again maybe , an off day for em but still a lil off putting all the same... thanks so much SOLVEABLEKNAVE for other possible options.., ill definatly have a look

Chris is just the best if you want Japanese work. Another good idea though is keep an eye on their facebook and book as fast as you can when they get guest artists in.

Chris or if the lads from East Tattoo come over again, i got a Koi and lotus sleeve from Ching a few weeks ago, still healing at the minute.

Chris is a nice bloke and has great knowledge of japanese art and tattooing, so if time is no issue then ring and book in.

Maybe keep an eye on this website:

    http://www.dublintattooconvention.com/index.html

Its a link to the Dublin tattoo convention - they haven't posted the list of the artists yet but you might be lucky and they might have some cool international Japanese specialists coming!
