How long is a piece of string?

    Are you overweight or healthy?

Do you have a background in running?

Are you planning on running a mile on the track, or on a road?

Your question can't be answered unless you give more information, and even then, what is a good time is all relative. A sub 5 mile would be a good time for a club runner, a sub 6 would be good for a recreational runner, but both these times would be useless at the elite level.

You should be aiming to be faster next time you run that route (don't do it every week, just once a month is enough for a progress check). And faster the time after that. And faster the time after that...

5.10 weigh 11 stone, have asthma and only recently found out the doctor has been prescribing me an inhaler too weak for me by a mile, so id say im healthy to a certain level

well ive been training soccer for past 4 years but because of my asthma never really been a runner

on the road, basically first half of my run is all hill of which half is up and half is down

im defintly not going for elite biggrin.png looking more towards recreational and trying to get fit for laps in soccer mad.png, sad thing is I now know I need to cut 2 mins off my run to get to 6 :(

They had some sort of SPAR mile challenge a few years ago in Ireland where loads of people ran a mile on their nearest track and I think only 1% ran sub 5 and 10% ran sub 6. A mile in 8 minutes would probably be average enough for a healthy man on the street, but that doesn't say much, so get training. :)
