I saw that all the card terminals on campus have been upgraded over summer and show that they take mastercard paypass and visa on the screen, also with bank of ireland now supplying contactless visa cards and aib following suit in a month or two, can the terminals take them? they're so much faster than chip & pin and cash and have no minimum limit.

    Short answer? Nope.

However you can use your student card to get into the reading room. Most of the labs are now tap to enter too. I'm wondering how secure the system is and fun/easy it would be to hack. If only I had more time.

I doubt it's any easier to hack than a simple swipe card. Plus nearly access to any room on campus can be achieved by waiting near the nearest fire exit until someone comes out for a fag....

Boots seem to have rolled out the new card terminals nationwide.
