I'm not sure if this will cure your problem but its worth a try.
Have a go at resetting the windows. Press and keep the switch down to open the window. Continue to hold the switch down for 10 seconds after the window has descended. Then pull and hold the switch until the window ascends and keep it pulled for 10 seconds. Repeat the above one more time to be sure. Often this will cure window lifter problems on most VWs.
If the problem is with the mechanism then the above won't work but it's worth a shot before going any further.
