I was curious as to whether any of you who believe in a lot of conspiracy theorys, would be involved in prepping for when the SHTF

I enjoy watching the Doomsday preppers series, its about people stocking up large amounts of food and weaponry. Some people have spent thousands of dollars worth of food and ammunition stocked up.

I was just curious were there many Irish people doing this.

    Cheers.

I don't see the point in this. If TSHTF then the military will be deployed to keep the peace, at which point they will take everything from everyone to be "rationed evenly!".
And if that doesn't happen then people won't be long comming to take your stuff. You can hide your food but you can't hide the fact your the only one not starving to death.

I don't see the point in serious prepping without being able to own an assault rifle

Did you see the episode with them prepping for a massive earthquake ... they had a basement with some dodgy wooden shelving packed with glass jars :D

They will in their fcuk, they might try, and in the initial stages this might work for urban environments, but that demonstrates a clear lack of understanding regards the long term strategies required for agriculture.

If there was a whiff of that happening round our way you could be fairly certain of a large number of farmers simply killing off their main crop in protest, we wont starve, but ye townies might

Don't know about over here, but during WWII farmers in the UK worked for the war effort just like everybody else. I'd imagine you'd be a lot better off then most, but there's no way you'd be allowed keep your whole crop and just feed yourselves.
In a time of severe crisis everybody will work for the state.

This is the early conclusion I always arrive at when my tiny mind ventures down these pathways.....that or a cross bow...at least you'd be able to wrench the arrows back out of your prey or the hungry city zombie out to fleece you of your hoard and reuse the ammo. (which is a cheerful thought) :D

    Good point
It would be interesting to know how hard it would be to fashion a cross bow from things one May have, lying around the house. Assuming you couldn't leave the house. What exactly is supposed to happen anyway? As regards to prepping i think Ill have to stock up on extra alcohol!

    Good point Daffodil.d -
I'm sure one could fashion a crossbow - macgyver style - from the innards of a defunct washing machine, the soles of your grandad's slipper, some teeth loosened by the stress of zombie apocalypse, and a few bits of cat gut. I mean, how hard could it be?
    :)
