Is it better to leave it in rings or split it up? Have a bit of time on my hands in the evenings and was thinking of splitting some each night if its best.

Split it as soon as you can or else it will harden and make spliting a very nasty job.

Bark seals in moisture and only area where moisture can exit is at either end, splitting vastly increases surface area where moisture can leave wood. Most wood types are much easier to split fresh.
Lovely work, my favourite job in cold frosty weather. A log splitting maul is a vast improvement on traditional hatchet

One of these is great fun when attached to a tractor, so easy, and very knotty wood is no problem. What took 3-4 days axeing takes only 1 day and no sore wrists or back.

middle one is mounted with a flexible pto connection yum yum

Split, build a stack and COVER the top, leaving the sides open to air.

Ive a ford 3600 :D and the logsplitter runs on the lowest pto revs if you want but I like it a little bit higher for knotty wood and a bit of speed, so no problem for a 2600. I have all my wood ringed up to about 12 inches and it goes through it like a hot knife through butter. Cant remember exact price now as I got it a few years back but just email mr large and I'm sure he'll give you a price. I felt it was compeditive at the time, and he delivered it to my door.

It a straight 3 point linkage and attatch to pto with the flexible hose.
