Looking for a good barber that's cheap enough (student). Somewhere on the westside, or near salthill. Don't want to go into the city centre cost me a fortune for being clamped parking :pac:

    Define 'cheap' and 'good barber'.

Barber beside Mocha Beans in Salthill is quite good, if you get the young guy. Think it is €12.

Turkish guy beside supermacs eyre square is relaly good and only a tenner.

Or the lads on cross street near the oxfam shop, again good and about €12.

There's a barbers by Westside Dunnes (next-door to the hairdressers).

There's loads in Galway, yet they all get away with charging 10-15 while ones in Dublin will do it for a fiver

Fairly intuitive really. 'Good' as in does what's asked, doesn't leave you cut too short. 'Cheap', well, fairly self explanatory really.

Cheers lads, €10 or under would suit, on a budget here :pac:

The one by Westside Dunnes, anyone recommend this one? Any idea of prices?

    Thanks for the replies :)

I'm not a woman so tend not to overthink a haircut. He's never left me looking any more gammy than usual if that's what you're asking :pac: the last time I went I did think he hadn't really taken as much off as I wanted, but that was my own fault for not saying anything really. And on the bright side I was in and out in under 10 mins.

I think it's cheapest Mon-Weds or something like that.

Well, I'd like to confirm my memory of the turkish lad beside supermacs being good.

I went there today at 5.15, out the door by 5.30 and very happy with the results.

Place is called Ali's Barber Shop.

Same as student price in One Step Ahead on Abbeygate Street, and you get the local gossip and chat with it for free ;)

Ahh, no. Headford Rd Dunnes is AKA Dunnes Terryland.

Westside is kinda west of that - and over the river!

House of grafton still open ?

I like Tom Nally's place, between King's Head and Fahy Photos. He's a nice fellow, and he goes about the job with aplomb. If you know your bit of Gaeilge that's always an advantage.

    +1 for Tom Nally's place.

Really nice atmosphere, really good haircuts.

not all shavers is it ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,166 ✭✭✭✭Zzippy

As the "boss" has grown rather tired of my attempt at a beard, I'm going back reluctantly to clean shaven, but feel like a proper shave to get the current growth off - I'd probably go through a few razors doing it! Anyone got a good recommendation for a hot towel shave?

Are there any good mens hairdressers in the city ???
I've been growing my hair for a while and want to keep it long.....

I had long hair for the best part of 6 years up until recently. I used Tom Nally's a few times and found them to be good. I also used the place run by the young Eastern European guys opposite the Post Office on Eglington Street (the name escapes me right now) for the last few cuts before I got sheared.
