I've seen a few, but not many of the new crop....lovin' Last Resort from the pilot but have concerns:

The timeslot is BRUTAL!....the 8pm slot on ABC has been known as a death slot!, no show in several years has suceeded past season 1.
The premise/plot.....how the fudge can they stretch it past a season let alone multiple?

The island  ...i've still got Lost-itis and worry every bleedin' episode will be set on the bloody island, we'll see how it goes.

Elementary...dunno, my gut tells me to stay away but if they have interesting/quirky stories and puzzles for Sherlock to solve it might be a step above your average proceadural storylines.

I'm gonna give it a shot this week and see how it does. As for Revolution....lol!, avoiding that like the clap! :P

The Neighbors...it's certainly different but i'm very fussy about sitcoms and even moreso single camera sitcoms...give it one more. I'm watching much less tv this year...though you'd never know it from my endless postings! :p

Seriously not watching a quarter of what i watched a year ago, dumped loads of shows...kinda getting bored with tv in the last year.

Like the only 100% shows i'll watch all season for sure are Once Upon A Time/Nikita/Fringe.

I normally wait until the new shows establish themselves but so far I've checked out Go On and The Mindy Project (worst title ever).

Go On has been great so far, it has a kinda Community vibe and the characters are really engaging and enjoyable. It just got a full season order too so yay!

The Mindy Project sucks so hard, it's not funny
and every character is a total jerk. dumped.

Elementary first episode was good imo and the show has lots of potential.

Revolution sucked really badly... what is Abraham's doing? Cant believe Faverau directed it!

Have to watch Last Resort yet... looks promising though as does Go On

666 Park Avenue has an interesting premise but the pilot was a crap... dont have a lot of hope for this.

Delighted that Once Upon a time, Grimm, Homeland and Dexter are back!

I'm shocked Richard! I thought you watched everything! I'm trying to do a Watch Everything and I take my telly seriously but I don't know how you manage your level of dedication to the whole thing! Anyway...

Elementary: I like what I see from the pilot. I don't think it's as crap as I expected. I had very low expectations. Going to hang in there for more.

Vegas: Good strong trailer. Nice to see Jason O'Meara back after TN. Quaid is very strong in this as is chiklis. Definitely a keeper after seeing the pilot. Hoping it'll stay.

Last Resort: Good stuff but not sure how it'll keep going as has been said. We'll see.

Go On: Solid stuff and quite enjoyable.

666 Park Avenue: this is my kind of show. I like dark edged stuff. However, based on experience, this is also the kind of show that gets cancelled quickly. I'm hoping this isn't the case here as the pilot was OK but showed a fair bit of potential.

Revolution: I can see myself becoming bored with this very quickly. Have seen up to Ep 2 and it's not bad so far but not terrific either. Ep 3 has been panned in these parts so I'm not expecting much.

The Mob Doctor: Shows promise but it borrows from House a bit (fantastical condition of the week) and throws in some mob action for good measure. I'm not sure I really buy the plot on this one too much. It's down my must-see list right now and I'll hang in there to see where it goes.

I have a bunch of the other sitcoms to get to grips with. New Normal started out OK but I've only seen the pilot. Neighbours looks good on paper but we'll see. Whitney Cummings involvement is predisposing me to hate The Mindy Project. Whitney last year was an absolute stinker. I'll give it a chance once I get watching. Partners looks quirky, but I haven't watched yet so I don't know.

Despite promising myself to dump it I have the pilot of the new season of Dexter to watch.

Homeland of course is a must, Boardwalk Empire also, oh and Sons Of Anarchy.............Alphas s02, Suits s02.

Havent watched any new shows so far.

Revolution im enjoying so far, the general consensus is that its bad, but most people had their mind made up well before it even aired, i myself said it looked bad, but it surprised me, it has an interesting bunch of characters, and Eric Kripke (whos the show runner, not JJ Abrams like everyone else is saying is running the show) seems to have a good reputation for himself,

and its been picked up for a full series, so im happy out, and at least it will get its fair chance to prove itself, unlike many others that got cancelled within 3 episodes or 10 episodes,

Last resort looks like it could be a good show, but it does need to expand on what exactly is the premise of the show, the pilot felt like a movie that will be concluded in the second episode, unlike revolution this is set in the here and now and current rules apply, you cant just rob a nuclear submarine, and have the 30-40 sailors onboard go along with you, nobody is that loyal, im skeptical but interested

(also richard we told you your banned from making lost references until you watch all 6 season)

Elementary so far is looking like it will be my favorite show, its procedural but we know a moriarty character is gonna pop up at some point and have a fairly large arc in the show, i can see this mimicking Person of Interest with the whole procedural/larger overall arc storytelling style, which is handy cause the two of them are airing one after the other, so it should help the ratings, person of interest just got stronger and stronger as season 1 went on

havent got around to Vegas yet and most likely wont till i hear its picked up to series, i dont trust era shows on network TV, they only seem to work well on cable,

and i wont even bother with 666 park avenue or the mob doctor, im not into horror/thriller style anything, and a medical drama with a gangster twist doesnt really appeal to me, plus the 3.5 million viewers for the last episode means its gonna get the bullet very very soon,

out of the half hour comedies, Go On im gonna keep watching, and also The Neighbors which so far for me had the best comedy pilot,

im still on the fence about The New Normal, ill watch a few more episodes and see how i feel, as i will with The Mindy Project also,

i didnt like Ben and Kate,

Go On is an absolute favourite form the get go. Love it!

I've only seen the pilots for Last Resort, The Neighbors and 666 Park Avenue, but thoroughly enjoyed all 3.

I'm one of the few that is enjoying Revolution - hasn't quite met my expectations, but liking it all the same. Unless there's a huge drop in quality I'll stick with it. Remember Supernatural (another Kripke show) got off to a slow start and let's face it, that's awesome.

The New Normal is still a toss-up for me. I want to like it, but I can see it falling to the wayside...

Been watching a new drama series, its into its 2nd one at the moment - Mount Pleasant on sky livingtv. Its quiet funny. Use to watch Stella while it was on.

Haven't seen 'The Fear' yet. I've watched 'The Neighbours' not keen on it to be honest. Though would like PJ Gallagher alright.

Not going to watch any more of those geordie shore type programmes except Made in Chelsea when it comes back on for another series. Fresh Meat is starting soon too so might watch that but don't find it remotely funny.

Not a massive fan of Gavin and Stacey never really got it but was nice to see the last episode of the last series whether that's the final episode I do not know!

Been watching a new Australian drama series - Winners and Loosers find it good and funny at times. Doesn't always keep my interest but its nice to watch. The first series only started on RTE recently and it finished up this week. Its 2nd series has started in OZ but probably won't start here for another while.

Been watching the new Dallas but not really gotten into it much! Loved watching Celebrity Salon was so funny!

Loving the 'New Girl' series, it just finished the 2nd one. So a happy fan!! Grey's Anatomy is to start back soon I think don't know when...

Looking forward to when the recent series of how I met your mother comes on E4!!

Haven't got into breaking bad, mad men, prison break, revenge and a few other shows similar to it. Some series I started watching of some shows and then loose interest in them. Would love to see once upon a time but don't have channel 5.

Couple of things starting in the new year so looking forward to their new series!! A lot of new series of shows are starting this Autumn so looking forward to them too!

Definitely keeping with Go On, Elementary and Last Resort. 666 Park Avenue I'm not fully sold on just yet and the others aren't that great.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,246 ✭✭✭alroley

I'm liking Go On and The New Normal.

I loved the pilot of The Mindy Project but the 2nd episode was awful but going to give it another chance.

I am going to check out Revolution and 666 Park Avenue.

Have just watched the first episode of Elementary, Last Resort and Revolution. Was pleasantly surprised with the first two, however I was right about Revolution. Too Sci Fi for me. Going to watch episode two before I fully make up my mind but I doubt I'll be going any further than that.
Really enjoyed Last Resort. Despite the terrible CGI, it has a lot of potential with a very interesting story line.
Going to give Go On a go as well. I need to find something to keep me occupied while I wait for suits and breaking bad to come back in February and next summer.

I love Last Resort so far! Revolution isn't great but I'll stick with it sure, I don't have high hope for a second season.

Surprised nobody's mentioned Hunted yet? Only watched the first 20 mins so far but it was excellent!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 205 ✭✭trendy88

Loving Elementary-Johnny Lee Miller is Fantastic-Serious Crush!!!

666 Park Avenue and Nashville(I cheated and watched the pre released pilot) are also brill.

Scandal is really really good, I think.

Started to watch 666 Park Avenue - liked the first episode ok, so will see what comes of it.

Haven't looked at Elementary or any of those other ones you have mentioned - but will have a mosey round and see whats what.

    Last Resort
666 Park Avenue( my favourite of the fall crop)
    Elementary

I've already given up on Revolution.

Watched this on BBC, and as much as I hate to say it because I really wanted to love it... it was disappointing. The further the pilot progressed the more the overall story dragged.

    So far:

    Vegas
Revolution (although they'd better stop with the mysterious strange nonsense soon, or I'll be knocking it on the head)
    Mob Doctor
Elementary (only watched first ep so far)
    Last Resort (ditto)

On the comedy front, I'm enjoying The New Normal, if only for Ellen Barkin. I can't see it lasting too long.

Am I the only one that didn't find 666 Park Avenue that great? I mean compared to the likes of American Horror Story and Supernatural's early seasons, it just wasn't as creepy as it probably should have been.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,255 ✭✭✭tommy2bad

The Paradise; sticking with this as it could be good, 3 episodes in and not impressed, though watching Hunderby has ruined period drama for me. The set up, new girl in new department store which is a new concept at the time, has potential they seem to have no idea what to do with it, social commentary or soap opera.

Hunted; Wont panic if I miss it, not as sharp or initiative as Homeland.

Homeland; I duno, a bit far fetched tbh. Well done but stretches credulity a bit at times. Must every one of thees shows depend on the fired person being the only one who can save the world? isn't that plot device dead yet?

    Any word of The River?

Im still watching grey's anatomy. haven't given up on it yet since it started back in 2005. Even though i know alot of people have. I'm still quite the dedicated fan :P
Oh and of course teh great GLEE! still loving it! even with its lots of new cast but lately some of teh episodes have been a bit more cheese then its normal cheese but still watching :P
Also im still watching the Simpsons too, the new episodes have seem to change alot from a few years ago, and i see some people on tv-links complaining about the new ones lately but hey i'm still hanging in there i've liked and watched them since the 90's :)
Hey does anyone know what the deal is with south park lately if anyone still watches it? there hasnt been a new episode aired since before xmas and i'm wondering have they packed it in or are they just in the process of making new eps at the moment?

just watched the 9 episode so far of Banshee the last few days, superb show, a lot of sex which is expected from cinemax, but some of the fight scenes are brutally epic, just sheer vicious fights, on more than one occasion 2 or more guys just go at each other and hammer the absolute **** out of each other, and to give the makers their dues it also has a great story to it to boot,

im really looking forward to the final episode this week,

anyone who is a fan of shows like Spartacus or Justified would really enjoy this show,

I wonder if the intersection between Justified fans and Spartacus fans is a big demographic?

going by the ratings about 400,000 americans, but how many of them watch either show i dunno, the show has that kind of backwater town feeling of justified, but instead of having Raylan Givens, who likes to break the rules, Banshee has a lawman that is actually a convicted criminal that assumes the sheriffs identity, and its like Spartacus well because of all the sex and violence:D:D:D

And what a season finale it was. ;)

Although it doesn't leave you with a cliffhanger (kudos), you'll get a fair idea as to where it'll be headed... and it's going to very interesting. Pity we'll have to wait until 2014 for season 2. :(

P.S.: If you're new to Banshee, always watch the credits!

yeah it was brilliant, and like you said no cliffhanger but enough to make you come back, i said it on the thread also that the fact this is on cinemax will put some people off but its really worth the watch,

Somehow this season has been quite disappointing. I think Elementary is one of the best new shows. Before it aired I thought it was going to be a disaster but I was pleasantly surprised.

I was looking forward to Revolution and The Following, both of which turned out to be just average. I gave up on Revolution (and Last Resort, 666 Park Avenue, The Mob Doctor) and if it weren't for Kevin Bacon (I just can't not love him), I'd do the same with The Following.

Still watching Arrow although I can't stand Oliver. No idea why but there's something off about this actor, he seems genuinely mean and not very good at masking it even when the situation calls for it.

I have to say I enjoy Chicago Fire. Maybe it's not a very ambitious but it's a nice way to kill 42 minutes. The same goes for Nashville. Never expected I'd like it but I do.

I'm about to stop watching Beauty and the Beast. It's bad. No. It's really bad. The only reason why I stuck with it for so long was because I was waiting for
them to finally kiss. They did it,
no need to torture myself any longer.

I also gave The Cult and Zero Hour a shot, neither of them was interesting enough to keep watching.

I'm not really in the mood for sitcoms this year, so apart from TBBT and New Girl I am sticking with The Neighbors only.

I've also seen about 3 episodes of Banshee and Utopia but found them too violent so gave up on them.

Primeval New World was one of my favourite new shows this season. Too bad it was cancelled

Revolution was hugely disappointing. Still not quite sure what to make of The Following (the graphic violence is comparable to Banshee btw) so I'm willing to give it a few more episodes,
now that the eejit from Suits (Mike's pal in season 1) has "left"
    . ;)

I've been addicted to Gravity Falls recently. It may be a disney cartoon but it's one of those cartoons with multidimensional layers of humor. There's such an enjoyable aspect to it from an adult perspective and I imagine he kids love it too.

+1....I couldn't stick 90210 any longer, and that's saying something considering how woeful GG got in the last two seasons...:(

Props for mentioning 10 Things.... :) ...who could forget that dress! :P

Between the few recommendations and the shows I know I wouldn't like and the cancellations this is a pretty barren new season it seems.
