Receiving Dole after quitting Job?

Quick question here and I'll close this thread after I get an answer!

I recently moved to Dublin and had to quit my job in Argos back in Galway and I was wondering if it is possible to now apply for the dole until I find something?

I know if you quit your job you're not allowed to apply immediately, but under the circumstances of having to quit because of moving (with a managerial letter to boot), is it possible to apply?

Probably a stupid question I know, but needed a quick response as I don't have time these days to check out the rules and regulations, cheers to whoever responds! :)

Also explain the situation to the person who interviews you. I had to quit a job a few months back because the work conditions were completely unacceptable and I ended up being on sick leave as a direct result for two months. I explained this to the person interviewing me and they waived the 9 week exclusion period as they agreed I had no option but to leave the job.

The exclusion period does apply if you quit, but if you have a genuine reason for leaving, they tend to be very good about it.

Get down to them asap, just explain your situation and also add that since you've moved to Dublin you have been looking for a new job etc, they they'll process your application and more than likely you'll be put on it!
