HTC Sensation turning itself off

I have a HTC Sensation for over a year now (about 16 months or so) and it has been running pretty well up until recently. Although the battery life shows as fine, the phone can just turning itself off when I am mid-task without warning.

When I turn it back on, the battery will have gone right down to red and it will more than likely shut itself back off after I have entered the PIN or when I try to anything on it. If I leave it for 10-15 minutes and turn it back on, the battery life will be back to what it was originally but will still be unreliable (possibly more switch offs) until I have plugged it in to charge.

Does this sound like a battery issue or something else? Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I'll hold my hands up and say that the phone has been dropped many times, screen replaced twice and it is definitely not under any warranty.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks :)

So after you fully charge it, how long will it be before it starts turning off. Will it turn off after 10 mins or a day later??

Also have you tried to use a different battery, trying to figure out if the problem is hard ware or software

It lasts most of the day, as in after being fully charged first thing in the morning it would last til 6 or 7pm. But I don't use it during the day in work much at all, usually I'd be browsing or tweeting on the bus journey home, that seems to kill it. I should see if I can buy/borrow a spare battery to test it out alright.

    Thanks!

I have a sensation too, used to have that problem as well. The trick is to put a bit of card behind the battery so it moves it closer to the pins. havent had it switch off since
