RTE1 analogue to continue after 24 October?

I have noticed the on-screen X24 October BUG/DOG disappeared from RTE1 analogue a few days ago and is still off (checked a few minutes ago).
The BUG/DOG is however still on RTE2, and TG4 still has its X24/10/12
This on a reception from Mullaghanish - is this also the case elsewhere?

Is this supposed to indicate anything?
Maybe RTE1 analogue is going to continue a bit longer beyond 24/10/12 as a 'lifeline' service for people in difficulty, especially those in the areas that have to get Saorsat.

It's possible I guess but Saorview:Brian ruled that out here previously.

At the Oireachtas Communications Committe discussion on Saorview last week one of the committe members asked if the analogue transposers covering areas not able to receive Saorview could remain on after ASO. Mick Keogh of RTÉNL said it wasn't possible as they were fed from the main transmitters and they would be switched off.

Maybe with the increasing pressure from the public in those areas and their political reps they may leave RTÉ1 on air for a period of time to allow households time to switchover.

There is plenty of time to change over.

    No need and technically awkward.

Yea, I mean they've only had nearly 2 years.........how much time do they need??!!
Lets face it some people will only ever make an effort when they absolutely have to ie: a blank screen.

It was mentioned before that VHF, not UHF, transmissions could continue for a while if needed. Definitely in border areas they will/should turn off RTE1.

They should turn them all off to avoid even more confusion and rumours. This may be an Irish solution to an Irish problem.

My money is that someone made a botch of it and switched if off accidently. Back today on three rock. No dog on TV3- perhaps somebody should tell them about ASO!

Saorview:Brain was quiet clear at the time, all analogue both VHF and UHF would be switched off at ASO.

I flicked through the analogue channels last night to check if TV3 was displaying the bug as the Dept of Communications said in its press release yesterday, it wasn't on TV3 but I'm sure it was on RTÉ1.

Checked it again a few minutes ago (1st opportunity to do so since my initial post here this morning) and I can confirm the X24 October D.O.G. is back on RTE1

Checked just now - no X on RTE1 Kippure (E) or Three Rock (29)
X is on the other analogue channels including TV3 where it's been rarely seen up til now.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

This would sum the country up, One minute you have to switchover and spend some money to keep watching the channels you have been receiving, Now all of a sudden, "Well hang on, actually you don't!"

Hang on don't get all worked up, just because a DOG is missing on one channel doesn't mean there is not going to be analogue switch off. Believe me it is going to happen DOG or no DOG!
What you are reading in this thread is pure SPECULATION, which some people enjoy. :(

Maybe there is shortage of Dogs, Kennels or handlers such that they can't run them on all channels at once?

That could be the reason. They sent the RTE1 dog over to kennels at TV3 HQ for the next few weeks. Either the owner at RTE1 is away on holidays or TV3 wanted to borrow the dog to let everyone know they are being put to sleep on 24th of October.

They seem to switch it off during the news from what I can see.

To those that say we have had plenty of time, our transmitter in West Cork was just switched on last week, there must be other areas where people do not know if their set up will work or not. Why spend money if it will work OK as mine did.
