Yer gonna be fleeced. I think I paid 1200 for first year full license. normally insurance companies will give you a much better price if you do a course with them, worth checking out.

Ya, I was quoted 4 grand from one:eek:

I'm 24 with a full license and a small bit of named driver experience, and the average quotes I get are anywhere from €1200 to €2000+

Try Tesco. I got fully comp for ~900-950euro (was 26, first timer, driving a nissan micra).

The next best I found was for ~1200-1300euro from a few different sources. Also got a couple of ridiculous ones though (over 3K). Just try as many places as you can and see what you can get! There are loads of things they'll take into account though aside from age; car, location, gender (I'm a girl btw, so arguably cheaper quotes for us!).

Guts of a grand I'd say. Probably not much more or less.

My first insurance was something like 1300 and I went through 25plus.ie. I was on a provisional licence though and so was my husband. It was cheaper to get us both on the policy than for me to go on it alone.
The insurance was fully comp (no option for Third Party fire and theft) but the "voluntary" excess came to about 700 and the car was worth 800!
With FDB now When I finally got my licence they seemed the most reasonable
