Working right?!

Ok where to start... I am working at this job nearly 11years and haven't had any issues relating to my working hours as I have been a full time worker and I still am presently. Recently I have been moved to a different section and ever since then my hours have been less and less every week and I just had enough as I feel like it wasn't my choice in the first place to be moved to a different section and just think its unfair to me!

I had a word with the hr manager as I wasn't sure why and for what reason my hours have been slashed, seen that in the same place of work there are staff working not as long as I have been there and they seem to get cushy hours and have their full working hours every day while I have to be happy with a mere 5hours of work.

So for a while everything went well got me hours back and all of a sudden this week for some reason my hours are diabolical again (talking about 25 hours) and I dont know where I stand with work and haven't a clue what to do and how to go about it? I have asked them before for my contract and they couldn't find it and I feel as though I am being discriminated against when they moved me to a different section with very little hours....

What to do and where do I stand in regards of the law?

Charter - Can't give legal advice on pain of bannification. There is a Work forum and NERA both of which would probably be a better source of information.

Do you think you are being discriminated against because of gender, marital status, family status, age, race, religious belief, disability, sexual orientation and membership of the Traveller community

If not then they can discriminate against you all that they want.

Do you have a contract of employment?

What does it say in regard to hours?

I do have a contract, but lost it unfortunately!

I used to work on a working visa and I was always working a 39hour week, its just this year that my hours have been so bad!

Ask HR for a copy of your contract.
    Read it.
See what it says about hours.
If you are being offered less hours than contracted - see an employment lawyer.

Your contract may say they can vary the hours, however you do need to be notified formally if you are put on short-time working. And your employer must make it known that this is a temporary situation and when you can expect to resume normal working.

They must also select workers for short-time on a fair basis.
