    Hi all,

Quick question; I'm thinking of playing rugby this season but must admit, my fitness is pretty poor at the minute and I have minimal playing experience?

Would it be worthwhile to spend a month in the gym getting into some sort of shape before heading to a training session or do you think it would be ok to turn up in my current unfit state?

well if you wanted to get fit for rugby why would you try and do that by doing something else other then rugby?

Just go down and you'll be fine. If at that point you think more work you could supplement it with some of your own work outs at that point

Just turn up in your unfit state. The earlier you get involved the better. The coaches aren't going to be annoyed about your lack of fitness, they'll be happy to see a new face. But that doesn't mean they won't punish you to get you in better shape. I recently got back in to rugby, and I was in terrible condition, but you'd be surprised how many people are in a similar state to you this early in the season. I'd imagine the club will have conditioning sessions organised on off days as well.

Id agree with this, the league is only starting next week so most of the teams are doing all of their fitness and conditioning stuff still so you should be fine.

Thanks for all the feedback guys...think I'll head down and give it a go! Worst that can happen is all the other lads get a good laugh out of it!

    Cheers!
