Hoping somebody will be able to help. Worked in a company for the last two years but was let go recently. Applied for JSA but was told that i have insufficent credits. Basically the last two years are fine but prior to this i was travelling for the year. Basically had worked hard from the age of 17 and saved hard for 12 years. Dont smoke or drink and always wanted to travel the world. Now i am been told that i am not eligable for any payment. Can this be possible.

It sounds like you applied for JSB,and the answer was that you dont have enough stamps?

It sounds like you dont have enough or any contributions paid in 2010 which is the governing year for jsb claims made in 2012. You can apply for jobseekers allowance which is a means tested payment. SW office should have advised you of this.

In 2013 the governing year for Jobseekers Benefit will be 2011 and it sounds like you would have enough stamps from that year to make a JSB claim. So you could apply for Job Seeker's Allowance - the mean's tested payment - in the interim.
