Just thinking about this on the way into work and curious what people think? Spiderbite put up a clip saying blops had the most balanced guns. I started just before they patched the Akimbo 1887s in MW2. For a time I couldn't figure what was going on:rolleyes: No real experience of MP on Cod4/WaW.

For me it would be the suppressed Famas in Blops. Just think it was miles ahead of anything else in that game and at one stage it seemed everyone was using it.
MW2 (Silenced Ump) Mw3 (MP7/Akimbo FM9s/ACR) spring to mind but think there were other weapons close enough whereas the blops famas was just in it's own class.

RPD with grip in CoD4 especially when you consider it has a 100 mag round

I think in MW2 there were overpowered guns gallore, hence why Blops was a breath of fresh air.

In MW2, you had the ACR silenced, the akimbo 1887 as said above, actually most akimbos to include the rafficas and the G18cs.. not forgetting the SPAS too. But I remember seeing a vid on youtube of a guy sniping with a magnum on that game.. so I guess I'd say most fricking guns in MW2.

M16 in CoD4, UMP in MW2 and Famas in BOPS. We can add the Moonraker Laser in BOPS2 too.

Can't comment on OP guns in MW3 as it's a steaming pile of crap that I haven't played since January, thus cannot remember. Or better put, I try not to remember.

    Famas in mw2 easily

silenced UMP with stopping power in MW2, an smg that you can snipe people with across the map on Wasteland.

for smaller maps, the RPD with extended mags and grip, its a death machine. aim down the corridor on Skidrow towards B if you have A and C, turn other team into mincemeat, laughing like a maniac.

Grenades in Cod 4 were the worst, everyone would throw their 3 grenades at the start of a life and mortar the area where they were killed in. To top that off, there was martyrdom where running over a freshly killed enemy was like playing Russian Roulette with an automatic. Cod4 had a really good balance of guns, some like the m16 or g3 and mp5 or ak74 were the best in class but the 2nd tier perk choices really added a level of balance. Mostly it came down to whether you run juggernaught or stopping power. Every gun in cod4 felt good, nothing too strong, nothing too weak. With the open lines of sight on the majority of maps, you had a big variety in tactics, guns and styles of play and very few people relied on camping.

It's only a recent trend in mw3 where some guns totally dominated others, all the time such as the mp7 and acr, which is a shame as it renders shotguns, lmgs and sniper rifles obsolete. In black ops I used the m16 and enfield the most and never felt underpowered in a firefight against a famas. It was the hit detection that more often annoyed me. For MW2, every gun was lethal and probably overpowered once you added in stopping power. Anyone could kill anyone which probably made it a less skilful but still enjoyable game. In COD2 and 3 the garand was probably the best but it wasn't able to reload mid clip so you'd have to use up all your bullets before you could reload and it had a very loud plink to tell enemies that I'm reloading and come and shoot me.

Type 95 in MW3 usually kills in one 3 round burst, even when silenced.

The secondaries were certainly a lot more powerful than in any of the CODs since - with maybe the exception of the MP9 in MW3 which is bad-ass for a secondary.

I don't think there has been a weapon as widely used as the UMP in MW2, it was bad-ass and I'd find it hard to remember being killed by a Vector/MP5/P90/Mini-Uzi when it was an SMG death.

I think that magnum sniping was in HC.

I kinda liked that a lot of the guns were OP in MW2, it gave you a good choice of assault rifles to use: Scar, Tar, Famas, M16, AK, ACR, FAL and the UMP up there with them.

I could never find a gun I really like in BO, maybe the AK47.

I'm not biased though, I swear!

L86 LMG with thermal and silencer = no kick and barley ever have to reload , once you get used to identifying enemies with thermal it's grand :)

MW3 ump with rapid fire and extended mags = no kick and insane fire down range :)

MW3 is dominated by ACR , M16 (since it got a power upgrade) , mp7 , fmg9 and mp9. Also I see 8/10 people using the smaw (or watever it's called)

oh yeah , the FAL in mw2, on Hardcore its a one shot beast of a thing.

The noob tubes in MW2 surely, no? Even without DC pro they were/are insane.

Surprised no one has mentioned the MP40 from World At War yet...

    Cod4: P90/M16
    WaW: MP40
    Mw2: FAMAS/UMP
Black Ops: FAMAS and 47u on release
    Mw3: T95

The 74U in Blops1 was insane when the game first came out, I remember being driven nuts by it when I was trying my hand at other guns.

MW3 probably had a lot more, but I haven't played it in months so the only one that comes to mind is the Type 95.

The recoil (or lack of it) made the ACR ridiculous in MW2, as well as the akimbo of many of the weapons.

Most overused? The mp40 from WAW.Most overpowered? The 74u in Blops with rapid fire is my pick.Great sights, great damage and manageable recoil.Rapid fire makes it overpowered.

Absolutely! The M16 and P90 too for those who wanted more mobility.

As yimrsg said, the 3 frag grenades in COD4 :) Still though, on the small maps it was often amazingly chaotic when everyone on the map lobbed their three grenades at once :D
