Just Read that a student died today as result of a blood clot formed from a simple fall in the college today.Such a sad loss of life,
Thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends. Life can be cruel sometimes and this just goes to show how precious it is.

Very sad his family and friends, any news on if he was a local?

(blood clot is just about the most insidious cause of death I can think of)

Sorry to hear that, especially tragic when its a young person.

Can I respectfully point out that the exclamation marks seem a bit inappropriate in the circumstances?

He's from Kilkenny city. I've known him since I was in 2nd class and I was in his class up until 6th class and then again in a few of them in secondary school.

We often didn't get on over the years (probably more my fault than his) but he was always a nice chap and I drank with him a good few times over the last 4 years since we left school and got on well with him then.

I don't really know what else to say on here. An RIP on a message board seems hollow to me when I knew him for so long. I'm abroad at the moment so I can't get back for the funeral, unfortunately.

At least I'll always have a memory of the times (both good and bad) that we shared over the years.

Topic Moved to the WIT Forum

Sadly, the report in the original post about a sudden death on the College St. Campus is correct. Students are advised that if they have been affected by this tragic incident they can avail of support services offered by WIT, free of charge. More info here

I would strongly recommend this to people. Its always good to talk, regardless of how big or small you feel your problem is. Sadly, there is a bit of a stigma attached in this country with such services, which is an awful shame. There is absolutely nothing to be worried or embarrassed about. It is also done in the strictest of confidence.

As the saying goes - Its Good To Talk. Don't let a problem get the better of you - speak with someone about it, get it of your chest and talk about it.

I am gutted to here about this tragic news and while it can appear a bit hollow to say Rest in Peace on the internet - they are words that we are all feeling and wish to express. Condolences to his friends and family.

Again, if you are affected by this, do avail of the services available.

As a close friend of his for almost 7 years I find this thread a little strange to be honest.

He was a very friendly guy and had many, many interests from kick-boxing to indoor football (played with him every Saturday :()

He was the heart and soul of nights out and would always have a big grin on his face.

Condolences to his Mam, Dad and Brothers who need all the support they can get right now.

He had already done a degree in science, he had only just started a new course in legal studies. Why?

He did not injure his leg playing hurling last Sunday I can assure you that, he had an operation not only 10 days ago that would have him out of sports for 4+ months.

Im sorry I know I shouldn't even be reading this but jesus christ don't make **** up folks. Not when there is people here that new him such as myself, and the poster above that went to primary school with him.

    Don't understand some people..

People worry and obsess about money, not having a nicer car than their friends, a bigger house. But when you hear of tragedies like this to a such a young man with his whole future ahead of him, we as people really have nothing to worry about, and our so called worries are nothing compared to something like this, and to what could await one of us someday in the future. Live everyday as if it was your last. Life is precious, and doesn't last long.

Sympathy to all his family, may be rest in peace
