    Hi,

I have a 1999 144 and sometimes when a trailer is connected there are basically no trailer brakes and the low air pressure light starts flashing , other times everthing is perfect. Had it at the main dealers they could find no fault .It happens with any trailer I connect . Any ideas what it could be? It's not just when I connect a trailer it can happen intermitently at anytime when the trailer is connected, like there no air going to the trailer when the low air pressure light starts flashing.

maybe air compressor is not switch on when you connected the trailer it take lot air fill up air brake/air bag. most truck when you connected a trailer you have to rev the engine to build up air pressure again.

pressure is built up , i could be driving along and the light starts flashing only then do the brakes become weak.

We only ever shunt trailers, not on the road with them, but is it not the other way round? Low air=brakes locked on?

go to a different garage some main dealer don t give a sh*t if you only have one truck too busy kepping the guy with lot of truck happy . it must be the air compressor not switch on nuff time to keep the pressure up

Could be a build up of water in your air tanks either. That would reduce volume of compressed air in the tanks and with extra usage of air by the trailer this could use up the reduced amount of air quickly.

Pottler is onto something there, would it not be that the compressor is not cutting out?
