Offered internship – can I get sponsored on JobBridge?

    Hi all,

I have been unemployed for over three months, and thus am eligible for the JobBridge scheme. I have been offered an unpaid internship with a digital marketing company. However, I found the job on the company’s own website, and not through JobBridge.

I went into the FáS office today and was told that, because the internship was not advertised through JobBridge, I would not be eligible for any increase in my social welfare.

I had thought it was a relatively straightforward process, getting the company to fill out a form or whatever. A friend of mine had said as much to be when he found his current internship.

Does anyone know if this is actually the case? Is there a form I can have this company fill out to get me on JobBridge?

They should be able to create the internship for you. Don't bother with FÁS, contact jobbridge directly they should be more clued in.

You will qualify if you are receiving 3 months social welfare yes.

You need to speak to your potential employer first to see if they are agreeable to joining up to jobbridge however. Some wont as they already had or have a jobbridge intern in the business and do not meet the criteria to take another on (not fair but it happens). Or you may find it is simply a case that they have not heard of jobbridge and will sign the forms with out any issues.

Once they agree call Jobbridge immediately and get the ball rolling.
