- better than average driver's car (i.e. no Renault Fluence or Nissan Tiida!)
- faster than average mum's car
--min engine size 1.6, preferably not over 2.0 unless car is really something i.e. Focus ST
- boot / rear seats big enough for surfing board/mountain bike which means sum 2m space between front seats and rear boot end.
- budget: no more than 3-4 grands for an ordinary hatchback but no more than 7-8 grands if a car is bigger/faster/appealing etc smthg extra.
I hope not too demanding
I have feeling there was some 1.4T engines but didn't search yet....0

It might be better to sit down and choose what you actually want first? Do you want a €8k hot hatch or a €4k normal hatch? (The 2005 + requirement takes out getting an older hot hatch for €4k)0 -

Not ideal but I'd say any hatch will take a board one way or another!
