    In short, it depends on the model of battery. Probably not.

    OP is asking about a battery grip, not a battery.

    But still, the answer is probably not.

    D50 wasn't designed to use a grip, and Nikon never made one. It doesn't have any contacts in the battery bay to allow any duplicate controls on the grip to communicate with the camera. Third parties used IR for the shutter release to partially get around this. The D90 has proper contacts for duplicate controls on the grip.

    The D90 takes the MB-D80 battery grip, which will also fit the D80...but no Nikon battery grip has been designed for the D50 to my knowledge.

    there may be third party possible, but not that Nikon would recommend
