    Hi guys,

My missus and I are planning on going somewhere in Europe for 3 or 4 nights mid October.

We're liking the sound of Brussels. I do love really good beer and would love to visit the Delirium Cafe and perhaps a few monastery tours.

Where is a good, cheap place to stay (non hostel) in Brussels that is quite close to the Delirium Cafe and, I suppose near transport to other areas of interest.

Besides tasting many wonderful beers (mainly why we're going), what other places of interest are there?

Edit: I've also checked out other threads, but prices may have changed and also wondering about peoples recent experiences.

I havent been since last christmas so cant really reccomend somewhere cheap to stay (as it being xmas-prices are mental)

I can however recommend another great bar you should hit if you want cheap drink, its called Celtica (down the road from Delirium). Happy hour is like 2pm to 1am and all drinks are €2.

So if you pick the right beer you can be well on your way on a tenner.

    Have fun!.

I've stayed here. Cheap and cheerful and very central.

I stayed in the IBIS. It was grand for what we wanted.

Honestly if your going to Brussels you have to take the train to Bruges for the day. is €15 return. The place is amazing. Much preferred it to Brussels myself.

Dont bother your arse with the Atominium, go see it alright but dont bother with the tour inside. Complete waste of money. What I thought was cool though was the Mini Europe alongside it. The grand palace is worth a look also.

Try the Kwak beer, the glass it comes in is brilliant. It tastes great too..

Good advice here. Technically Celtica is an irish bar but its not tacky and has the local cheap prices. It was recommended to me by a local. The selection of beers is great and as mentioned most are €2! The beer is pretty strong in Belgium, when I was there I asked the barman for a good Belgium beer and he ask me how strong I wanted it? I said not too strong and he gave me a beer with acl vol of 9%!

As for things to do, I did a €10 walking tour from outside the tourism office in the main square. Lasted nearly 3 hours and was a nice way to see the city.
Avoid the EU Parliament unless you really like that kind of thing, I found it a snoozefest.

    Enjoy your trip.
