If you are staying more on the eastern side of Canada, Montreal and Ottawa are reasonably close to Toronto.

You can probably visit Prince Edward Island then of course the famous Niagara Falls in Ontario. Quebec is a lovely place to go to and it's romantic! French culture is strongest there.

Definitely Ottawa is a must. There is a lot to see and do there. Plus it is easy to get over to Hull, Quebec. If you like museums, they have the War Museum and the Museum of Civilization. Fascinating. Here is a link with things to do in Ontario. :D

But depending on where you want to travel in Canada, if you make it over to BC. Go and visit Vancouver Island. There are a lot of treasures over here.
