Just looking at UPC and the 25 MB service is no longer offered.

They offer 50 Mb, 100 Mb and 150 MB.

The 50 MB offering seems to be the same price as the 25 MB offering.

Anyone ring them to try to get upgraded.

They will upgrade you but you may need to change your modem if it's one of the older units. They'll charge you €45 for the privilege. I think only the Thomson and the Cisco EPC3925 will work.

I have a Cisco EPC2425 so it looks like a modem upgrade so.

The higher speeds are not available in all areas. You need to ring UPC to check.

    Upgraded to 50mb today.
Using generic speetest.com shows 19/20 DL and 9/10 ul ??

Yes charged €40 or so for that....:(
But as earlier person said, it's about the same rates thereafter as the 25mb pack.

Worst thing is when new router delivered, they disconnected the phone and broadband without giving any warning... Hopelessly user unfriendly in that respect.

I'll do more tests using speetest and UPC speed test which obviously exagerrates the rates data rates by a factor of 2 ????

So 50mb really means 25mb and I'm not getting that anyway .... Yet !

Are you using a wired or wireless connection?

wireless tests on PC and IPAD & Android Tablet.. all wireless.
There is a PC with wired connection I can try that too

Looking at my subscription I've been given the 30MB pack which probably explains something.

Here's a test from UPC speed test
    Last Result:
Download Speed: 27225 kbps (3403.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 16480 kbps (2060 KB/sec transfer rate)
    Latency: 50 ms
    4/12/2013 6:07:24 PM

    speed test.net shows
    20MB/s & 16MB/s

    all Wifi tests

I'd suggest doing a wired test. You'll only ever get ~20-25Mb/s on G wireless and interference could cause problems even on N.

Also some ares are now below par, i.e., can't even get 50 Mb.

And me - I can get about 55 - 60 Mb wired and from 45-55 wireless. Very happy with it.
