This is becoming a bit of an issue for me! UCD sport commitments clashing with lectures. I don't want to mess up either.

Anyone else had to deal with this issue?

Yeah... training always won out for me during my undergrad! A bit more lecture focused now in my postgrad though :p It really just depends on what the modules are like, and how capable you are of keeping on top of it.
Alternatively, your sport may have multiple training options, so you could focus on the ones that don't clash and just work 200% at them.

Depending on the sport you could be eligible to get a letter from the sports office excusing you from classes with no consequences and it also helps when as lecturers/tutors for material that you may have missed.

    What sport are you playing?

I would think seriously about which is more important to you. Then do that. Do you expect a "free pass" on your coursework or something?

    Thanks for the replies.

I'd rather not mention the sport except to say it's a college team sport.

I think it's madness to miss lectures especially after paying substantial fees to do the course.

At the same time I get the impression that if I miss training or a match, it's bye bye!

Maybe it won't be like this throughout the whole year but I'm hoping someone
else with college representative experience might shed some light on what the demands might be.
