Getting the NCT done on saturday and i know i need a new tyre to make my car safe, but i cant afford a new tyre because i have to pay for the nct! Only in this corrupt money grubbing kip!

So basically im paying to fail the NCT, and I'll see if santy can bring me a tyre for christmas!

    Grrrr!!

    Rant over!

Safer to have a working tyre and no nct than a bald tyre and still no nct

Get a part worn if you can't afford new.

As for the nct being a money making racket, I reckon you need to rethink that one.

You shouldn't be on the road at all.

If you can't afford to maintain your car in a safe, road worthy condition - sell it or leave it parked up until you can.

I don't want you skidding into me on a wet day, thanks.

    *Mounts high horse

So you're driving a car you KNOW has an unsafe tyre.

Thank god this, money grabbing kip (as you put it) of a country, is going to put you off the road.

It was designed to put unsafe cars off the road or at minimum encourage people to maintain their cars so that they are (1) Safe and (2) Able to pass the test.

Unless Santa comes early the NCT will put you legally off the road unless you take the chance and run the Garda checkpoint slalom.

Tyres are not the thing to save money on they are the only thing that connects your car to the road. As for the nct it ensures cars are road safe. Its not a money racket. If there was no nct half the country would drive around on bald tyres and kill themselves.

If fairness dude if you can't afford a €30 partworn, You might as well sell your car and take the bus.

What car/tyre size out of interest?

I've had a tyre blow out on the motorway, not pleasant.

You're genuinely better off buying a new tyre and deferring the NCT for a while. Personally, I'd rather run the risk of being without an NCT for a few weeks, than having a potential risky tyre.

Buy a partworn for 30 squids.

op afaik you can reschedule test as long as you give them at least five days notice of test date (that means tomorrow) then go buy your tyre (also tomorrow)
