Hi, I'll have to find a place for changing the t-belt on my modus in weeks to come, and I'd be happy to have a ballpark estimates on what it reasonably costs? Also, any recommendation of mechanics / garage around co. Galway for such a job would be welcome...

About €300-350 would be average I reckon.

Since were on the topic of timing belts!

How much was a 2001 1.3 Daewoo Lanos and a 1999 1.6 Focus cost for timing belt change including waterpump tensioners etc.

Looking at cars tomorrow and want to factor the cost of replacement into total cost.

Daewoo probably around the €300 mark.

Same for Focus if you change the water pump, however the water pump is driven off the alternator belt rather than the timing belt so there is no need to change the pump on them IMO. Timing belt kit change without pump €225 or thereabouts.

Is a Lanos even worth 300 quid?????

I have it in my head George that you are a mechanic? Is that true, if so where do you work? If its in Bray might be using your services! I would use Nissan Doctor but its a bit out of the way for me.
