I would like to import a southern registered landrover discovery to uk plates.
I was thinking about a 2006 commercial. What is involved in importing it and converting it back to passenger I understand about replacing the seats and belts but have not got a clue on the paper work or import fees. Has anyone any info on this?
    Thanks.

Can be a right pain, esp if it has a KM clock. You have to convert the clocks to Miles, including odometer, get a cert of homogenisation and all that stuff.

Suggest you try for one that was previously registered in the GB or NI. If you have the old reg then it's easy enough, I've done 2 ex-GB back to GB (one landrover, as it happens) and it was easy enough - old log book, MOT and insurance debit card for road tax and away you go with a new tax disk!

I'd imagine DVLA-NI is much the same.

Ok I never thought about the clocks. What about commercial to private do you need an engineers report.

It wouldn't be worth converting a proper commercial back to passenger, way too much work as there's no seat mountings or seatbelt holes for starters.

There's plenty of passenger D3s around and a UK or NI reg one will be better maintained and have a much higher spec.

Are you sure it's not homologation.

    Homogenisation rather applies to milk.

I'm sure - they chop it up really fine and blend it. It's the only way to get a cert out of a car manufacturer.
