Buy from the German site to get the Key and then download the English version of W7 OEM. But make sure you downlaod the 64 bit OEM version. I'm not sure were you download it from though. Ask in the PC Building and UPgrading forum or my be someone here knows .

    This may not work

The license does not allow you to change language apart from some dual language versions :( - usually where the second language isn't completely translated yet.

Windows 7 Ultimate allows different languages but it costs more

Well this is what the lads over in the PC building forum have been recommending and no one has come back to say it doesn't work.

You're right Captain, you can't change the language. However, you are free to install in a different language.

Yeah, my German bought laptop came with W7 Home Premium preinstalled with all that HP junk on there as well. I downloaded W7 from digitalriver and reinstalled in English without all the HP junk, using my OEM key on the sticker to validate. No problems. Nice clean W7 installation.

To save "using up" validation attempts, there's a small app that can be run to save some registry settings, which can be re-run after re-installation to restore these keys, which validates W7. It's perfectly legal etc. but saves you validating needlessly (MS sets some arbitrary limit on validations which requires a phone call to them to reset, so just saves this hassle). Forget the name of the little exe though, should be on Google.
