This is my drain - just moved into a second hand house and finding all the quirks now.

The outflow of the drain which I assume should be joining up with the toilet waste pipe and flowing into the council drainage scheme, has a copper pipe in it. A pipe within a pipe. I thought first that maybe the drain pipe broke so they added the copper pipe to link up with the drain but it doesn't seem to - it may even be coming from the house (why I don't know).

I find the sink water seems to be just seeping down into the ground rather than joining up with the waste.

When I run a few yards of sewer rod up from the the other end of the drain - getting at it from the access hole in the garden, it comes to a full stop, as if it hits concrete rather than silt/blockage. There isn't even a trickle of water going from the drain through to the access pt.

Am perplexed, , any thoughts on what this copper pipe is? and how to unblock the drain?

Something else to note is that the previous owners built up a patio over the drain pipes a few years ago, am wondering if they collapsed the drain at some stage.
