hi all, i recently set up parental controls on my 12yr old sons laptop. i honestly cant remember what brand or type of software it was but i think it was just normal windows type parental controls. i set it to a medium level but now it asks for a password for every single website i.e. google, bing, you tube etc etc so he cant go on any sites without the password. and even in a website he cant change a page without again being asked the p/w. i now cant turn it off.....? i know stupid but incredibly frustrating. i turned do something good and it turns out to have made the computer useless / frustrating. any help would be great. if i could pay someone at this stage i gladly would to fix the prob. all i want is the controls taken off completely. thanks

If it is internet explorer, could it be there you set the control?

    Tools
    Internet Options
    Content
    Parental Controls

You should be able to disable by use of the password there

I remember an issue with Windows XP and IE 6 (i think) where parental control got corrupted after an update and started blocking everything but that was fixed years ago ... without more information (OS , browser, software used if not windows built in) there really is no way to give advice beyond "did you read the instructions?".

the above issue could not be turned off using the password and required a registry edit, somethign I would be loathe to advise unless there were specifics given to help narrow the field.

thanks. a local computer shop guy fixed it in about 30 seconds and for no charge so as you said it was probably something simple but i would never have cracked it....cheers.
