Maintaining running fitness til next year

    Hi
I have been running on and off for the last year or so.. My goal has always been a marathon but so far have only done a few half marathons. My problem is I have never really stuck to training as other sports and commitments have dragged me away. Earlier in the summer I had made some attempt and consistent training with a marathon in mind and I saw some great improvements in my times, a 75 min 10mile race my most memorable to date.

Anyway, I still have a marathon in mind for next year around april/may or June. However I am signed up for the winter to playing soccer which is 2 trainings a week with a match at weekend. So my plan is to tap away until around Feb of next year when I can really focus on a marathon plan (P&D)..

So my question is, is there any specific type of training I should follow now until next Feb.? I think I can only manage maybe 2 or 3 runs a week for the next few months. I am thinking I should just go out and run easy and nit worry about times etc and just work on my aerobic and duration ability. Any other advice on what I can work on with limited mileage/runs per
    week?

Yeah you're essentially building a base so run easy. As often and as much as you can. Try to make 1 run per week a long one. Consistency will see big progress.

Cheers man. I know it's not ideal but it's all can manage for the next while so just want to ensure I'm getting the most benefit from it
