If you do how much do college books cost?

Some books are available online, others on blackboard and some you may have to buy. Prices vary dependant on subject/course for example some of the law books are around the hundred mark. Additionally you may be better buying second hand from other students or the S.U. shop. The library has copies of some textbooks.

Some modules you can get a decent grade from lecture notes alone, others you need a little background reading, and (depending on your course) some require book(s) to pass.

General textbooks can range from 40-120 euro, specific books can be fairly decent due to size or extortionate due to rarity/difficulty to order in.

The library has just about every book the lecturers recommend, and Hodges Figgis normally are sent reading lists from most courses so they'll more than likely have the required texts (or can at least order them in). Buying second hand (if you need your own copy) is the best option, check the Noticeboard emails every week for people selling books.

Very much depends on your course.
Textbooks for things like Law and some of the sciences are v expensive (€100+ each) but in many cases you can get away with not buying them and using the ones in the Library instead.

However, I'm doing languages and it's the opposite - books are much cheaper but we have to buy a lot of them. In first year, for example, I had to buy two large dictionaries, two large grammar reference books, ten novels/plays and two films. Could probably have got away with the dictionaries and grammar books but you need your own copy of most of the literature books (or you need to be first in to the library to grab them :P).

The library is excellent, it should be rare that you need to buy a book. If there are too few books, contact the subject librarians with a copy of your recommended book list.

If you're studying economics, try typing '400+ economics books torrent' into Google.

I think it depends. I got a book brand new for 59€ and used it for 3 years.
