thanks, seems a long wait alright, 5 months.
can you confirm that working for 3 days a week, 12 hrs a day, would not be seen as a part time job by SW.

The only confirmation you should trust 100% is the dept of social welfare, call in to your local office or give them a ring.IMO working 36 hours a week will probably be considered full time.

I will ring them on monday, if it is the case ,a job advertise on FAS as PART TIME DRIVERS JOB , 3 DAYS, 36 HRS AWEEK,
should be corrected by FAS as it not part time but full time in the eyes of SW, so people would be able to assess their social welfare benefits before applying for the job.

Are you sure that the job would pay you a lot less than the dole? 36 hours @ minimum wage of 8.65 = 311.40.

I don't know if you're married/co-habitating or have children so perhaps your dole includes payment for dependants. If so, could you partner sign on and get Jobseekers. It would be means tested of course but it would make up some of that shortfall. I think if you can get by until FIS comes through it would be worth doing.

Wife and 2 kids i am claiming for ,don't think my wife can sign on, has not work since having kids. (11 years ago).
finding it hard now on the money now, 4/5 months waiting for FIS ,while on the part time money i would really struggle.

If she shows that she's available for work Nig then of course she can sign on for Jobseekers Allowance. I know the waiting list is very long for that too. I see what you mean about struggling but wouldn't it be great in a few months to have the job and the FIS coming in? Maybe talk to your Community welfare officer and she if he/she could advise.

Just rang social welfare office and citizens advice this morning, both said, 3 days at 36 hrs, will be part time and can claim for the other days, this is on job seekers benefit
