Ariva 250 with satellite input only

I am planning to get my grubby hands on an Ariva 250 combo shortly to replace a sky box, but I don't immediately plan to hook it up to Saorview, though I may in the future.

I believe I read somewhere in these many threads that the Saorview input allows EPG and series link etc, but not the satellite LNB input, and it is not a question of choosing which input shows the EPG etc?

Help and advice would be very welcome!

The Ariva doesn't display a full 7 day EPG on satellite because all that is transmitted in open DVB-SI format on satellite is 'now and next'. This isn't a "fault" of the receiver, it's because that's what the broadcasters have chosen to do.

The only 7 day EPG for UK FTA sat channels are the ones transmitted by Sky or Freesat and these EPG systems are not transmitted in an open format.

Finally, rather than starting multiple threads on the Ariva 250, you would be better off posting in the existing thread in Terrestrial here:

Thanks Apogee, I will look more closely at specific Freesat boxes, to see if they would suit me better then, as the 7 day EPG is close to being essential.
