Problem when walking my Rottweiler

As above when I go walking my dog who is a year now it seems that every dog we meet on our route try's to attack or bark at him.

When they see him coming the barking starts and next thing there out trying to snap at him. He's a very calm dog never reacts to the other dogs. It's very annoying as none of these dogs are with owners they come running out of drives/gardens etc.

I said to one owner that came out that if their dog is like that to other dogs he should be tied up, to which he responded about my dog sure he's a rottweiler he should be able to look after himself.

My question is why are they all so focused on my dog, is it his sheer size that intimidates other dogs into barking and snappin or is he giving off nervous energy which I don't think he is but I could be wrong.

Does he wear a muzzle? Other dogs may be freaked by the sight of a dog with a muzzle!

They probably do the same to every dog - I have the same thing happening around here when I walk mine. I think it's more to do with dogs being loose in their driveway, they're defending their territory maybe.

+1 my dog is scared of dogs wearing muzzles and will try and get away from them. We had a staffie weaing a wire muzzle wanting to play with him a few weeks back (my guy on lead, staffie off) - staffie didn't get the message and my guy started growling which he never does.

no never wears a muzzle, used at start but thought it was a bit unfair that it was my dog being bit so took it off him.

I get the same when out walking my staffie. She reacts and looks like the vicious one.

Ya very annoying, if it was my dog doing what their dogs are doing people would be saying "typical Rottweiler" or reporting it to the dog warden.

I have the same problem with my GSD and she starts pulling the lead now before she gets to the offenders house, i often feel like letting her off the lead...i know thats not the solution though.
