    Amazing episode.

And the Academy of TV Arts and Sciences needs to hold an awards show just for John Noble and just throw Emmys at him for several hours.

Same intro was used for the 2036 episode in season 4.

Cusick's character (Foster) was mentioned so hopefully he makes a comeback soon.
Noble brilliant again, who else would like to read Walters attemp at science fiction :D
Still a lot to be answer for what happened between now and 2036, like - where the hell is Lincoln :p

Ye good thing they mentioned him because i was getting annoyed they had some random lad in with the same kind of accent as if they were trying to ignore him,but good they acknowledged him.

John Noble is class, how has the man not won an emmy? its a joke!

great to have the show back, pity it wont be for much longer but at least we will get an ending. Im also glad they got Olivia out fairly early, they could have dragged finding her until the end of the episode or even more than one ep.

You just wonder why on earth aren't more people watching this and that it's getting cancelled!

Well I guess enjoy it while you can lads....................

They announced a 5th and final season of 13 episodes so its not really being cancelled just coming to its natural end . Going by the main storyline for season 5 it seems they have run out of ideas and are now ripping off the Matrix. Preferred it when they were ripping off the X files! September was a great character when we didn't know much about him or his race.

It was pretty much cancelled. The possibility of cancellation has been hanging over the show for 2 seasons now. It most definitely affected the how season 4 played out and wrapped up. When that 2036 episode aired, it was a clear "look at what awesome stuff we'd planned, give us more time" message. Now we have season 5 and they've just been given 13 episodes to what is essentially the 2nd major arc of the Fringe storyline. The writers have been screwed around for 2 seasons now and they've still managed to do a great job. This is not the shows natural end, this is just the work of some fantastic writers working under sh*tty circumstances to tie together the pieces of a story that had its beginnings way back in Season 1 when we first found out about the Observers. Given full backing this should had the potential to be even greater.

Also, I fail to see how this is a rip off of the Matrix. There are some visuals that share similarities but that's about it. Not fair to call it a rip off of either the Matrix or the X-Files. Not fair either to say they've run out of ideas. This season is a total game changer, something many shows are too afraid to do.

Anyway, I digress. Fantastic episode. Really moved along nicely. I thought it'd be a few episodes before we'd get Olivia back or before Walter would be rescued. Interesting to see where they go from here. The plan appears to be gone. There was no "the memory MAY come back" line, it seems well and truly gone... unless September comes back and fixes Walter.

John Noble is pure class. He'd bring a tear to the coldest of hearts. He owns every scene he is in. Loved the final shot. There is always hope :)

Maybe I don't remember it correctly, but was William Bell not killed off at the end of Season 4? How could he have been trapped in the amber?

Hah lol, it wouldnt be the first time hes come back from the grave, not too bothered with the science as long as walter comes up with a suitably nutso explanation

i think walter might have clicked something at the end of the episode, when he was listening to the music in the car,

no walter killed olivia and bell escaped while he and peter tried to save her,

a great return, and it looks like the writers mean business this season, no dragging out stupid storylines, this episode seemed all about getting the team back together, and now that theyve done that, it should be time to get to work,

Any chance of a MOD adding a pole

seems richard has forgotten how to create them as usual,

Didn't he stay in the alternate universe with Red Olivia?

Perhaps. The way I read that scene, it was linking to what Walter and the Observer had said earlier, that music helps you find hope. The Observer told Walter there is no hope and I think Walter believed that towards the end. The music reminded him that there is always hope.

    Either way, awesome scene :)

It was significant because the observer said nothing grows on scorched earth. So the dandeloin growing on scorched earth shows us that Walters memories can grow back.

The music gives you hope. Alison Moyet sings "Can you hear me?" Walter can, yes he can

Stuck on repeat :) Go Walter!

I honestly dunno how John Noble has not won a big award for Walter Bishop yet.

He has to be one of the best actors ive ever seen at bringing out pure raw emotions from a character. Im not exactly an easily got person when it comes to acting getting me on the auld feelings but he does it everytime with out fail you actually genuinely feel something for him when hes on screen.

Easily one of the most likable actor/characters ive ever seen on a tv show or movie.

I felt for me anyway it was an odd start there was a strange atmosphere around the whole episode compared to pretty much everything we have seen so far. You can tell by the feeling of it that the ends near. Wont say that was a bad thing for the episode though as i enjoyed it as i always do with Fringe.

Looking forward to seeing how they go about this season really am!!!

That last scene was excellent. One again, John Noble show us how it's done :)

Really enjoyed the episode. I hope they don't spend too much time on the flashbacks, though i worry they will a bit. At least if they do, i hope it's more focussed on the war rather then Peter/Olivia's split. And while i don't think Walter will get Septembers plan back, they will find it again. Bell's hand will, i would assume, unlock something pretty major related to the device.

Best thing about this being the final season is they don't have to worry about getting more viewers so can just concentrate on telling the stories we all know the background of.

Great episode. At the beginning of the interrogation scene when Walter was looking at the Observer I was thinking he looked like Thomas Jane or Christopher Lambert.

Wonder will we get to see how William Bell ended up with them.

I'd say Walter started to write a science fiction book but then it gave him an idea and it became science fact for him. :)

Good episode to start the season but as mentioned above the rescue seemed a little bit all over the place.

Also, how weird is the dwarf keeping Olivia as a table!

Off to a pretty good start. Think this season will have a bit of a different vibe. Tracking people through traffic cameras is a fairly standard TV thing these days. Thought the emotional Olivia/Peter scene had some odd camera angles. Good ending. Noble delivered as always.

The Walter scenes are always the best. Genuinely felt bad for him when he was being tortured which isnt something that often happens with TV characters.

I think that air mixture thing will play a big part in deciding who wins. If they can get rid of that, the Observers are in trouble fairly quickly. Seems a very big weak point that should be targeted as soon as possible.

Wonder if we'll get much in the way of Flashbacks or if it will just be the bare essentials.
