Samsung Galaxy S3 - Internal memory question

I have a Sony Experia android phone and the internal memory is crap on it and I rapidly ran out of it.

I'm looking at the S3 as a possible replacement, but what is the internal memory like on the S3? Is there any problems with it? I really don't want to have to root a phone just to be able to download apps!

Can an S3 owner help me out, please?

When I bought my S3 it had 11-12 GB free memory (rest taken by OS). It was used up pretty fast when i added music, podcasts, pics etc. I bought 32 GB micro sd card class 10 and transferred music and podcast to micro sdcard and I have 8 GB free memory now. No experience with experia but love S3.

So it has GBs as internal memory, not a measly 200mb? That's great to know.

It has 1Gb of RAM, 16Gb of internal storage, and an SD Card slot to which you can add up to 64Gb of additional storage.
