Good snow for low cost

Couple of boarders looking at Livigno and Soldeu, but worried about the snow in Soldeu. Was there 3 years ago and while the snow was ok, it was very very icy.
Was in livigno 2 years ago and despite the odd icy day it was generally much better conditions.

Deals i'm looking at would put soldeu about 200 euro cheaper than livigno but we really dont want to be disappointed with snow.

The group going consists of varied experience, some of us have our own gear and some dont. So a basic flight/accomodation/liftpass cost is what we are looking at to judge the expense as gear hire is similar enough most places.

soldeu works out about 5/6 hundred, livigno about 7/8. Soldeu would be the winner right now if we felt more confident about the snow there. Which isnt super cheap but still the best we've found with what we need.

missed going anywhere last year and dont wanna miss out again... any recommendations between the 2? or even somewhere completely different.

Andorra has statistically year on year the lowest snowfall measurements in comparison to the Alpine Nations. It also has the most expensive lift pass for every skiable KM available.

It is the cheapest but there are good deals out there for places like Tignes, and some spots in Austria normally in the Skiwelt that may price up close to Andorra.

I've to agree with Fattes here. Andorra isn't as good value as it seems. There are some great deals out there for places like chamonix, tignes. We've done chamonix late season (april) for 400 all in for a week (flights, accom, lift passes and transfer). They sometimes do an accom+lift pass deal which can be insanely cheap.

Cahmonix may be cheap to get there but that is where it stops it is a seriously Pricey place to visit and I love it.

    Thanks for the replies :)

I've been to andorra 3 times now, twice to Pas de la casa, and once to soldeu and while soldeu was good while there, andorra has generally been the worst of all the places i've been, the best being livigno and alp d'huez.

I've heard a lot about Tignez, i'll check it out and see if there's any good deals at the moment.

Any other suggestions are welcome :D

True, it can be a very expensive place. We have done it several times as proper students, few beers in chambre neuf, drinking at home, dinner in poco loco then out to Le Garage. Left Ireland and back home for about 650/700. Great times, but it is definitely a far more expensive resort than Livigno/Andorra etc. I'm mainly just urging the OP to look for deals. The better resorts can come close enough to Livigno etc if you pick a good deal.

There are cheaper resorts out there for sure, but I've yet to find a better bang for your buck than Chamonix.

Wow considering the lift pass its €300 that is good going my friend. It is a place everyone should go at least once in their ski carrear!

Back a few years ago they used to run a "white weeks" promotion, normally for march/april. That did accom+ski pass for 320. Aer Lingus ran a deal with free ski baggage return for 80, transfer for 50. Unfortunately I haven't seen that deal in a few years.
