Firstly I am in no way affiliated or have any connection to this service; I used it today for the first time and feel it is very much a bargain alert.

GoBus operate this non-stop service direct to Cork and it is reasonably priced compared to the absolute rip-off which is Irish rail. It also operate to the airport for €15

I had read about it previously on boards and found it a pocket saver today when Iarnrod Eireann wanted €60 for a one way train ticket

    I wrote about it here

Also for anyone who is booking at least a day in advance, the Aircoach express Dublin-Cork is 9 euro each way online.

Out of interest, does anyone know if either service accepts the confirmation email on a phone, not printed out? I assume they need them for their records, but would be handy as don't have a working printer.

    nope!

I took them a few weeks back and the driver wanted to keep the paper ticket .
Just like yourself I had no printer so ended up going to a tourist office in Cork to get it printed!

Pure stone age stuff, but for the price you cant complain.

Roughly, how long does this journey take? Are there any stops on the way (toilet etc)

Aircoach require the print out, stupid.

GoBus Terms and Conditions say you have to print off the ticket, but reports from people actually using the service say that the drivers are saying just having the ticket on your smart phone email is fine.

In fact the GoBus drivers seem to have a list of the passengers names on their own smart phone.

BTW for GoBE, they require you book online, you can't pay the driver. Aircoach allow you to book online or just pay the driver. Aircoach Online single/return €9/€18, walk up €15/€22

The Aircoach walk up fee is very good compared to Irish Rail, €80!!

I've been using Aircoach over the last few months and they are very good, highly recommended. Haven't used GoBE yet, but I'm sure they are equally good.

    3 hours.

All GoBE buses have toilets and no stops.

Roughly half Aircoach buses have toilets * and thus no stops. If it doesn't have a toilet then you can ask the driver to stop at Urlingford for a 10 minute toilet break.

    * Aircoach seem to be getting new coaches in with toilets so that eventually (maybe within a month or two) all of their buses on the Cork route will have toilets on board and thus no stops.

I printed my ticket out in a webcafe on Talbot street which is only a 3min walk from Busarus as the gobus email said it needed to be printed and I was not sure as it was my first time using the service. However when I boarded the bus the driver was just checking booking confirmation no.s against a list he had on an iPhone and I asked him did I really need to print the email he said no it was fine once I had the confirmation no. on my phone so he could just confirm my booking.

According to someone who posted on Facebook a week or so back asking the question, Aircoach said they will now honour tickets shown on phones, I don't know if that actually is the case or not or this was a one off.

Are GoBe tickets flexible? Aircoach allow you to change the time of your coach on the outbound journey and even the date as well as the time on the return journey if booked online.

The only other downside with GoBus is that they only run every two hours during the week in the day and they only operate from the coach park rather than from the front of both terminals, with Aircoach they operate from both terminals front door and hourly during the day.

But if none of those are issues for you there is little between them I'd suggest.

No GoBE tickets don't seem to be that flexible, at least not according to their Terms and Conditions. Another advantage of Aircoachs service.

Good news about the Aircoach tickets, but if true they need to update their T&C's and info on their website.
