Folks, am heading up to Donegal for the weekend, hoping to spot a Golden Eagle.
If any of you could give me some clues as to where might be good to look and don't want to publicise, you might drop me a PM please.
By the way, I notice goldeneagle.ie hasn't given any Golden Eagle GPS locations since 2010, while it continues to give them for WTEs. Have all the tagged Goldens died ?
    Cheers.

From what I have heard, the best (only?) place to look for the Golden Eagles is at the corner of the R254 here:

    Google Street View (very scenic!)

Pull in at the crossroads and scan the hillsides. They are not easy to find, so be prepared to wait a couple of hours. Golden Eagles tend to hunt by flying quite low over the ground, though they do soar occasionally.

This area is very remote, so be adequately prepared (if you are doing any walking) :)

I can understand your sentiment. However the site information I gave is freely available in other sources (guide books and the like). The Eagles do not nest nearby and the area to the north of the road is still within the National Park. Also, sightings here tend to be relatively infrequent.

Although the safety of the Eagles needs to come first, one should also consider the need for showing these magnificent birds to the public and encouraging tourism to the area. If there was any doubt in my mind that the site info I gave may cause harm to Eagles I would not have posted it.

Enough waffle, here's is a nice pic of a Norwegian Golden Eagle:

Not just nestin sites that'd be damaged but if the eagles are spotted they could be poison
That's a nice goldie but I prefer the bigger stronger golden eagle from Kamchatka in Russia
