Mods if the below would be better suited in the main forum please do the needful.

Ok so quick question for those with more experience than me, I currently shoot in raw as you should but after a weekend in Kangaroo Valley I have a couple of hundred photo's which are taking up a nice chunk of space on the HD. Most of the photos are snaps, nice memories but not technically good photos hence I don't need to keep the raw file a jpeg is fine but aperture preview of the raw file without any alteration gives a much nicer colours etc than the jpeg produced by the camera so hence I'd like to keep those but is there any easy way to convert and save 300 in one go, so then I can keep all the better jpegs on the laptop and clear the raw files. I have all the photos backed up on a separate HD so it's not the only copy of them.

    Thanks in advance.

if the photos are in a set themselves, just select all the photos and then go export > jpeg (and the size you want.. you can pick original size) and export them to a folder on your hd or wherever you want to put them.

i hope i understood your question correctly.. my head's a bit fuzzy today

As far as I know, you can't do it in one step within Aperture. And I'm not in front of my Mac now, so I may not be 100% on the steps. But basally, you need to export JPEGs from your RAWs, delete the RAWs, and then import the Jpegs.
    1. Select all the images you want
    2. File Menu > Export > Versions
    3. a dialogue box will open up, chose your file format (JPEG) and size (orignal), and any other options.
    4. Let Aperture export all the images to whatever folder you've chosen.
    5. delete all the RAW files*
    6. Import the JPEGs you just created back into Aperture if you want them back in there.

I can have a look tonight to see if there's an easier way, if no-one else can come up with one in the meantime.

    * Be sure to empty your trash, both in Aperture and on your Mac desktop, if you want to save disk space, as deleted items still take up space until they're emptied from trash.

exif data should be retained. you could test it with one photo first, to be sure.
