Doing a PLC is business studies management at the moment with to aim of going on to DCU next year. Was just wondering how difficult is it to obtain distinctions? DCU requires 5. I'm doing 11 modules and am hoping for full marks in 8 of them. Is that doable?

Also does anyone know how many places are reserved for PLC-ers?

Why are you doing 11 modules? Would that not reduce your chances of getting distinctions?

However, to answer your question, it is perfectly possible to get distinctions.

Start working immediately, be prepared to keep working for the entire course, do projects and submissions as soon as possible so you do not miss the hand-in date, don't miss any classes.

Don't underestimate the work experience and Communications modules, they have to be done and are simple enough provided you turn up for class/work and actually do the work.

Don't allow yourself to fall behind, or delay doing work because the hand in date is well ahead, just get on with it, the work will keep coming, especially with 11 modules.

Be organised with modules, handouts, keep copies of work submitted, information sheets about hand in dates etc.

Most important, be proactive. It is your responsibility to make sure that things happen - if your work experience contact doesn't send in necessary documentation, for example, YOU chase it up, don't expect things to just happen.

It will usually tell you on the third level sites what the requirements are and number of places available for specific courses

    Good luck!.

Yes it's possible, I did a Business level 5 last year (to get into DCU as well) and did 10 modules, got 10 distinctions and got into my level 8 course :)

Just keep on top with the work load, do all the assignments on time and expand on your points always, don't write the minimum.

What course are you looking to do in DCU? As far as I know its between 3-5 places for FETAC applicants.

Cheers for the reply. Aviation Management with Pilot Studies :)
