BBC HD or BBC One HD missing? Updated scan settings here

As noted in other threads, the modulation for BBC HD and BBC One HD have recently changed from QPSK to 8PSK, so will most likely result in a blank screen on most Free-to-air receivers and combi boxes.

To get them back, do a manual scan as follows:

    Frequency: 10847MHz
    Polarisation: V or Vertical
    Symbol Rate: 23000
    Modulation: 8PSK
    FEC: 2/3

If the above doesn't work, then on a small number of receivers, you may have to delete BBC HD and BBC One HD first, and then scan again.

If a mod is reading, perhaps the 'FTA tuning guide' could be updated too?

Did this affect the ariva combos? I notice my dreambox had to be rescanned but my Mvision 300 seems ok which is strange.

No it doesnt effect the arivas. Only boxes that dont have auto demodulation.

EG. Technomates/Clarketechs and Linux boxes that have manual selection of DVB-S2 and FEC will require editing.

8PSK needs a much stronger signal than QPSK, but saves bandwidth. (i.e. bits per symbol is higher), or allows more channels or higher quality/bitrate in the same symbol rate.

Maybe this will knock out some mainland Europe Reception. Astra 2F (Oct/Nov possibly) will knock out more mainland Europe Reception but allow Zone 1 dishes for Sky on all of Ireland.

I presume a Symbol rate change would need a "rescan" on the Ariva?

Probably (BBC didnt change the SR), but the demodulation type doesn't make any odds to them, so no scan is required.

My Channel list for the Ariva HD 250 is from the 2012-08-07 so it was pre channel modulation change.

What I have noticed with my Clarketech box (used for feeds) is that it doesn't decode Dolby Digital Audio Tracks. This is especially noticable when you have to listen to the default audio stream which sometimes contains audio description! Ch4 and BBCHD now have two audio streams only, one of which is DD. The Ctech also requires rescanning for channel changes as it expects the exact mod type.

I noticed the same on the HD300. Went to change the TP and noticed it was already on 8PSK.... which threw me (I must have set it wrong at the last change) so I changed to QPSK to test and still had a signal.
