no sound card issue

A friend updated my laptop with Windows 7 its a HP Pavillion G6000, just tried skype for the first time since I upgraded and it seems there is no microphone getting picked up now. message coming up says "cant detect sound card". as there was no sound card removed i assume its a driver issue, any idea what I need to do?

I'd say go to the HP site and get the latest sound drivers. Ones listed under Windows Vista should also work.

If you were really stuck, you could get a USB headset.
