    Hi,

So I've kinda settled on one of these which comes to €703 if you include the cash back (€730 if Samsung take into account my being Irish). Can also be gotten from laptopsdirect for the same price. Saveonlaptops seem a bit cheaper on delivery so I'd probably get if from them unless anyone can give me a reason not to?

Seems like the best value/performance offering at the moment. But i'd be delighted If someone knew of something better! :D

It will be primarily used for everyday web browsing, downloading, video playback. But I'd like to be able to game occasionally so a 650m is really as low as I'll go in the graphics department.

I don't intend it as a desktop replacement so ~€850 is the max I will go.

    Thanks for you help! :)

Optimus IV with the same CPU, 8 GB RAM, GTX 660M and full HD display costs ~ €785 (sans OS) or €826 with a 128 GB SSD (has a 2nd HDD bay). 3 yrs warranty included.

    Thanks Torqay. :)

Spent all day yesterday playing with the configuration for the Optimus, the temptation to overspend is enormous! By the time I finished with it, it'd likely be closer to €1000. I'll play with it a bit more today & see if I can find a config i'm happy with.

Any opinion on saveonlaptops? Are they alright to deal with?

Put it this way, RAM and HDD are easily upgraded later if need be. But you will be stuck with the CPU and GPU. And the basic machine with a Core i7 Quad, GTX 660M and 4 GB RAM (1x4) is still within your budget. Plus you'll have a 2nd HDD bay and a full HD display.

    You'll get another 4GB here for £14.39.
